Ehrhart Griffin & Associates has performed civil engineering services for a wide range of independent senior living facilities across a eight-state region for the Essex Corporation development group. Project sizes have varied, ranging from a single story, 28-unit complex to multi-storied 84-unit complexes. Projects generally include underground parking, surface parking and a main entrance focal point with enhancements such as fountains and islands.
All landscape and grades around the building perimeter are “senior” friendly and offer the senior residents ease in activities such as gardening and fitness efforts. The interior facilities include specialty areas such as a country store, dining room, health and exercise rooms and executive offices for the retirees.
As part of a design team comprised of five design firms located in the metropolitan Omaha area, Ehrhart Griffin performs all site related services. Typically, our involvement begins with project inception and carries through the construction process. Past project experiences have included topographic and boundary surveying, research and application for zoning and/or platting, public hearings, discussions with public officials regarding site design requirements, the preparation of construction documents and periodic construction observation services. After several attempts at utilizing local companies within the specific project area, it is the Essex Corporation's opinion that the creation of a design team located in the home base of the Essex Corporation establishes better project continuity, proper communication paths and consistent value engineering policies that had been missing on earlier projects.
