Alegent Health Circulation Study

EGA was contacted to perform traffic circulation studies to analyze the parking and traffic circulation at the Bergan Mercy and Immanuel Medical Center campuses in Omaha, Nebraska. The purposes of the studies were to analyze the external driveways at the Bergan Mercy campus, as well as the parking lot demands and internal flow characteristics at both campuses.

Traffic volume data was collected at the Bergan Mercy campus to determine the capacity and geometric deficiencies at the site driveway intersections. Parking lot counts were taken on four separate dates at both campuses to determine where the parking lot deficiencies are occurring. Based on the data collected, recommendations were made to improve the internal traffic flow at each campus, along with ways to have more effective parking layouts in the areas where demand was higher than existing capacity.
